Two Tragic Nebraska Accidents Cause Injures and Kill Teen
There are a significant number of serious accidents on Nebraska roads each year. Official figures from the Nebraska Department of Transportation reveal that there were more than 30,000 passenger vehicle crashes in 2013 alone.
Nearly one-third of all passenger crashes during 2013 were injury crashes, whereby one or more of the vehicle occupants sustained serious injuries. According to the statistics, more than 14,000 individuals sustained serious injuries in these accidents.
It is clear, then, that car accidents often have serious repercussions—both physically and financially. If you have been injured in a crash and you are struggling with the financial burden of the medical bills and lost wages, you may be able to reclaim some of the costs through a personal injury lawsuit. Woman Dies in North Platte Crash
Omaha.com reports that a woman died in a serious crash in North Platte, Nebraska. Two other people in the vehicle at the time sustained serious injuries.
One of the passengers in the vehicle died on the scene before emergency workers were able to assist her. The driver of the vehicle at the time and her 3-year-old daughter survived the crash, and emergency workers rushed them to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their injuries were critical, and the child received further treatment at a specialized children’s hospital.
Police say the woman was driving south on U.S. Highway 83 when she crashed the vehicle. She crossed the center median and drove into the lane travelling in the opposite direction. The car crashed directly into a semitrailer truck travelling north on the same road.
Police say the driver of the truck did not sustain any critical or life-threatening injuries. Alcohol was not a factor in the crashes, and all passengers were wearing seatbelts at the time. The child was also in a baby seat, which authorities say saved her life.
Teenager Dies of Car Crash Injuries
Star Herald reports that a 12-year-old boy died from injuries sustained in a car crash a few days prior. Local police have confirmed that the young boy passed away on Friday.
The boy was one of two who sustained injuries in a serious car accident. Fortunately, the other victim is no longer in a critical condition.
The two were passengers in a car driven by woman who failed to yield at an intersection. She did not notice a pickup truck travelling in the opposite direction and crashed into it.
