Work Related Injury Leaves Woman in Critical Condition
A worker at an Iowa business is in critical but stable condition after deputies reported that a pallet fell on her head. Pottawattamie County rescuers took the call around 5:30 p.m. Saturday, December 9. It happened at the Underwood, Iowa, Jack Link Snacks distribution center.
An ambulance took the woman to Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs to be treated for her injures.
A spokesperson for Jack Link Snacks released this statement to Omaha’s KETV.
“At Jack Link Snacks, we think of employees as family. Their safety is our top priority. Our thoughts and prayers are with our colleague, and the company has been and remains in contact with their family. We take this incident very seriously and are thoroughly investigating its causes,” said Kip Lindman, public relations manager.
The U.S. Department of Labor reported 3-million non-fatal work related injuries in 2013. That’s three potentially serious injuries on a yearly basis for every 100 workers. In 2012, 4,628 workers lost their lives on the job nationwide, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
