Crash alert: Pedestrian fatally struck in Kearney
KEARNEY, NE – Authorities are investigating after a teacher was killed while walking with her husband last week on a sidewalk in Kearney, according to a report by Kearney Hub.
The accident happened at about 9:25 Wednesday night on the 900 block of West 35th Street near Horizon Middle School.
Police say Jessica Eidem and her husband Nate were walking on a sidewalk when a Buick Park Avenue heading west on the street drove up the curb and hit them from behind.
Jessica, 41, was taken to CHI Health Good Samaritan in critical condition and later died. Nate, also 41, was listed in fair condition.
The driver of the car was a 16-year-old girl from Kearney. According to an accident report, there was no suspicion of alcohol nor drugs being involved, and the driver was wearing her seat belt at the time.
