Crash Alert: Man charged with deliberately hitting protester with car
LINCOLN, NE – Police report that a local man deliberately struck a demonstrator with his vehicle multiple times on May 30, and was charged with second-degree assault on June 5.
Police responded to reports of an accident in the 2500 block of O Street at approximately 2 a.m., and found a crowd of people obscuring the scene. It was only after conducting multiple interviews and reviewing video footage that they were able to reconstruct what happened.
According to KETV, 27-year-old Trever Kurtz deliberately struck a protester, backed up, and ran over the victim again. He then called police and reported the collision as an accident.
It is unclear how badly the demonstrator was injured. This is an ongoing story and will be updated should more information become available.
