Crash alert: Man sentenced to prison in fatal Cass County crash
CASS COUNTY, NE – A Nebraska man has been sentenced to prison for causing a fatal car accident in Cass County last year.
According to the Omaha World-Herald, 36-year-old Jade R. Gunn of Murray pleaded guilty to motor vehicle homicide in the case. The accident happened at about 10 p.m. on June 30, 2019 on 24th Street, southwest of Plattsmouth.
Authorities say Gunn was driving drunk when he failed to stop at a stop sign while driving a Nissan Pathfinder, and his vehicle struck a Chevrolet Trailblazer. The other driver, 58-year-old Tammy Martin of Louisville, Nebraska, died at a hospital 18 days after the crash. A witness said he was not able to get Gunn to remain at the scene.
Gunn will serve seven to nine years in prison after being sentenced for motor vehicle homicide-DUI and failure to stop and render aid.
