Crash alert: 2 teens killed in collision at intersection near Hastings
HASTINGS, NE – Two teenagers were killed when a car and a truck collided in Adams County late Tuesday night.
KSNB reports that authorities responded to the scene near Hastings at the intersection of Highway 281 and Idlewilde Road.
Investigators determined that 19-year-old Anahi Solis was driving a Ford Taurus at about 11:30 p.m. and went through a stop sign at the intersection. The car was then struck by a semi-truck going northbound.
Solis and a passenger, 17-year-old Daniel Carpenter, were killed. Both were residents of Hastings. Another passenger in the car was critically injured. The truck driver, 28-year-old Jacob Christiansen, was not hurt.
Roads in the vicinity of the intersection were shut down for several hours Wednesday morning for the accident investigation.
