Crash alert: 3-vehicle accident shuts down stretch of I-80
LINCOLN, NE – A chain-reaction accident on Interstate 80 caused traffic delays in Lincoln Friday morning.
According to the Lincoln Journal Star, three vehicles were involved in the crash, which happened at about 5 a.m. on I-80 east between 27th Street and 56th Street. The incident began with an SUV hitting a barrier in a construction zone, police said. That vehicle was struck by a van that was behind it, and then was hit again by a semi-trailer. The driver of the van was treated and released from a Lincoln hospital. No other injuries were reported.
The wreck caused the eastbound lanes on I-80 to be shut down in the area before reopening about 90 minutes later. Drivers were diverted to Arbor Road while the scene was being cleared.
