Crash alert: Driver who ran red light causes crash near mall, police say
BEATRICE – Police said a driver who ran a red light caused a crash in Beatrice Tuesday night.
According to News Channel Nebraska, the accident happened at about 8:09 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 77 and Industrial Row. Beatrice police determined that a 16-year-old male driving a Jeep northbound did not stop for the red light and struck a GMC on the driver’s side near the Indian Creek Mall.
The driver of the SUV was extricated from the vehicle and airlifted to a hospital in Lincoln. She was identified as 38-year-old Casey Holsing of Beatrice. No details on her condition were immediately released. The other driver was not seriously injured.
Lanes of the highway were shut down for about 45 minutes after the crash.
