Crash alert: Drivers seriously hurt in Scottsbluff accident
SCOTTSBLUFF, NE – A crash between two vehicles on a western Nebraska highway Tuesday afternoon left both drivers hospitalized.
According to News Channel Nebraska, the accident happened at about 2:15 p.m. on Highway 26 in Scottsbluff.
The driver of an eastbound Ford Escape lost control, over-corrected and hit a median between Avenue B and Avenue I, police said. After landing on its side, the Ford Escape ended up sliding into the westbound lane of the highway. At that point, a Toyota RAV4 slammed into the vehicle’s roof.
The drivers were seriously hurt in the crash but their injuries were not considered life-threatening. They were taken to Regional West Medical Center.
Highway 26 was shut down after the incident but reopened after about an hour.
