Crash alert: Man charged with leaving scene of I-80 accident
OGALLALA, NE – Authorities say a man who left the scene of an accident in western Nebraska has been arrested.
According to a report by KTIC, the crash involved a Nissan Altima and a semi-tractor/truck-trailer, and happened at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday on Interstate 80 in Keith County.
The Nebraska State Patrol said the Altima driver, 31-year-old William Cooper, fled the scene on foot but was tracked down about two hours later while walking about two miles away.
Cooper, of Sioux City, Iowa, is facing multiple charges in connection with the incident, including leaving the scene of an accident, obstructing a police officer, and possession of a controlled substance. He was taken to the Keith County Jail.
