Crash alert: Man dead after trucks collide in Platte County
NEWMAN GROVE, NE – A man was killed when two trucks collided on a highway in Platte County last week, News Channel Nebraska reported.
Authorities said the crash involving a pickup truck and a water truck happened Thursday at about 5 p.m. about a mile west of intersection of Highway 45 and Highway 91. The pickup driver, 75-year-old John Sellhorst, was going east on Highway 91 when he crossed the center line and struck the other vehicle that was going westbound, according to the Platte County Sheriff.
Sellhorst, of Newman Grove, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver, 31-year-old Yasmanis Varela Marti of Grand Island, was not hurt.
The Boone County and Platte County Sheriff’s offices responded to the scene The accident is under investigation.
