Crash alert: Man killed when SUV crashes west of Scottsbluff
SCOTTSBLUFF, NE – An SUV accident claimed the life of a Mitchell resident Sunday morning, News Channel Nebraska reported.
The victim was identified as 34-year-old Joshua Green. Authorities said the accident happened at about 3:24 a.m. as Green was driving a Chevy Suburban west on Highway 26 near the overpass of South Beltline Highway west of Scottsbluff. According to the Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Department, Green’s vehicle went onto a shoulder, then across the highway and over some nearby railroad tracks before hitting an embankment.
Investigators are trying to determine whether alcohol use was a factor in the fatal crash. Green was not wearing seat belts at the time.
