Crash alert: Omaha city worker crushed between vehicles
OMAHA, NE – Police have released a report on an accident last week that left an Omaha Public Works employee seriously injured, according to the Omaha World-Herald.
The incident occurred shortly after 7:30 a.m. Wednesday at a city maintenance yard near 96th Street and F Street. 46-year-old Jose Barajas was crushed between two pieces of construction equipment, the report said. The president of his city union said it happened as workers were using construction vehicles to push salt into a bin.
Barajas, an automotive equipment operator, was transported to Creighton University Medical Center-Bergan Mercy where he was listed in stable condition Monday. He was placed on a ventilator.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing, a city official said.
