Crash alert: Pedestrian fatally struck by semi on I-80 in Omaha
OMAHA, NE – Police say a pedestrian was struck and killed in an accident on Interstate 80 in Omaha Thursday morning, according to KETV.
The incident happened at about 4:15 a.m., when the person was hit by a semi-truck in the westbound lanes of I-80, just east of the 60th Street on-ramp. The victim’s identity has not yet been released, and it remained unclear why the pedestrian was on the interstate at the time.
The highway’s westbound lanes were shut down for the police investigation, with traffic diverted onto 42nd Street. The crash caused delays that stretched back to I-480. One westbound lane reopened shortly after 5:30 a.m. as crews continued working to clear the scene. I-80 reopened at 8:25 a.m.
