Crash alert: Pedestrian fatally struck by train in Scottsbluff
SCOTTSBLUFF, NE – A man was fatally struck by a train in Scottsbluff Wednesday morning. News Channel Nebraska reported the incident happened at about 6:23 a.m.
Police said a man was struck by a westbound locomotive on the railroad tracks west of Avenue I. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as 56-year-old Michael Nolde, a resident of Missouri.
Authorities do not suspect any foul play in the fatality. The Burlington Northern Santa Fe crossing was closed for through traffic in the area for several hours until the tracks were cleared.
