Crash alert: Stretch of Highway 44 closed due to accident

KEARNEY, NE – Authorities shut down a portion of a roadway south of Kearney Tuesday morning. Nebraska TV reported the closure of Highway 44 was due to an accident.

The roadway was closed between R Road and U Road, after police responded at about 7 a.m. Kearney Police and the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office were on the scene.

There was no immediate information on whether the accident resulted in injuries. Drivers were being urged to avoid the area.
