Crash alert: Teen pleads no contest in SUV crash that killed friend
LINCOLN, NE – A teenager has entered a plea in connection with a fatal crash in Lancaster County in 2018, according to the Lincoln Journal Star.
17-year-old Anthony Moreno of Lincoln pleaded no contest Wednesday to felony motor vehicle homicide and two other felony counts.
The charges stemmed from an incident on Dec. 26, 2018, when Morena was 15. Authorities said Moreno stole a Chevy Trailblazer along with three other teenagers and was fleeing from police on Interstate 80 when he lost control of the vehicle at the exit for Northwest 48th Street.
The SUV crashed and rolled, and the four teens were ejected. One of them, 14-year-old Zayne Yost, was killed in the crash. Moreno and the two others were injured.
Moreno will be sentenced in October. and could receive up to seven years in prison.
