Crash alert: 2 hurt in pickup accident on way home from high school
BEATRICE, NE – Two students were involved in a crash while heading home from a school in Gage County, according to News Channel Nebraska.
The incident happened Friday near the intersection of Southwest 117th Road and West Hickory Road northwest of Beatrice at 3:50 p.m.
The Gage County Sheriff’s Office says the female driver and her sister were in a pickup truck on West Hickory Road when the vehicle went out of control after a tire hit a patch of dirt on an unpaved part of the road.
The pickup veered left and right before rolling over into a soybean field. The driver and the passenger, who had been on their way home from Tri County High School, were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. They were both wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash, authorities said.
