Crash alert: Case of Grand Island hit-and-run headed to trial court
GRAND ISLAND, NE – According to KSNB, the case of a man charged in connection with a hit-and-run crash in Grand Island has been sent to trial court.

21-year-old Luis Ruiz is accused of leaving the scene of the Sept. 5 accident, which happened at the intersection of Anderson Avenue and South Locust Street. A 13-year-old girl, Samantha Atkinson, was left critically injured and paralyzed in the crash. She remains hospitalized.
A judge transferred the case to trial court after Ruiz waived an evidence hearing, and he is due in court Oct. 6. Ruiz is charged with felony Failure to Stop and Render Aid and misdemeanor Reckless Driving.
