Crash alert: Driver arrested after car hits pole, wall in Beatrice
BEATRICE, NE – A driver was arrested after police say he fled the scene of a car accident in Beatrice, according to News Channel Nebraska.
22-year-old Jarod Peden was driving in the 1100 block on North 6th Street at about 9:50 p.m. Wednesday when his car hit a utility pole and then struck a retaining wall before overturning.
Authorities say Peden tried to get away on foot after police officers arrived at the scene of the crash. He jumped a wall and ran, but was eventually apprehended by one of the people who had witnessed the accident, police said.
After being checked at a local hospital, Peden was arrested on several charges, including suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs and reckless driving.
