NORTH PLATTE, NE – Police say a man driving under the influence caused an accident Monday night that sent four people to the hospital, according to Nebraska TV.
46-year-old Eli Brooks of Chicago was arrested after the incident, which happened at about 9:21 p.m. on Highway 83 north of North Platte.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said Brooks was driving a BMW southbound when his car rear-ended a Chevrolet Tahoe driven by 55-year-old Sherry Cozad.
The two vehicles left the roadway, injuring both people in each car. The four injured individuals were taken to Great Plains Health with injuries ranging from minor to life-threatening.
Authorities say Brooks’ BMW was going much faster than the Tahoe at the time of the incident, and Brooks was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol above .15.
