Crash alert: Man killed after losing control of pickup near Overton
OVERTON, NE – A 72-year-old man was killed when his pickup truck went off the roadway and crashed in Dawson County late Sunday night, the Scottsbluff Star-Herald reports.
Authorities responded to the accident scene northeast of Overton on Road 448, between Road 755 and Road 756. The Dawson County Sheriff’s Office said the incident occurred sometime after 10 p.m. as Thomas J. Brennan Jr. of Overton was driving a Ford F-250.
Investigators believe he lost control of the pickup when it hit a soft patch of gravel on the road. The vehicle went into a ditch and rolled into a ravine. Brennan was pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriff’s office said he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
