Crash alert: Man sentenced for causing fatal wreck in Lincoln
LINCOLN, NE – A judge has sentenced a man convicted of causing a deadly accident in Lincoln last year, according to the Lincoln Journal Star.
20-year-old Marvin Rivas Villaneuva of Lincoln was sentenced Friday to a year and a half of incarceration for the March 29, 2019 crash.
Investigators said Villaneuva was driving a Mercedes-Benz when he lost control and spun into two other vehicles that were stopped at a light on O Street near Gateway Mall.
A backseat passenger in Villaneuva’s car, 23-year-old Jared Williams, was killed in the crash. Villaneuva was found guilty in July of felony motor vehicle homicide. He faced a maximum sentence of three years for the conviction.
