Crash alert: Pedestrian killed by truck on I-80 in Omaha identified
OMAHA, NE – A woman fatally struck by a truck on Interstate 80 in Omaha last week has been identified, according to the Omaha World-Herald.
This is an update to a previous story.
The victim was 23-year-old Austin “Bella” Tierney of Omaha. She was hit last Thursday at about 4:10 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-80 just east of 60th Street, police said.
Tierney’s father was quoted as saying the woman had been running across lanes of the highway when the accident occurred, and was probably taking a shortcut to the home of a friend.
The incident caused heavy delays on I-80 as the highway’s westbound lanes were shut down for the investigation.
