Crash alert: Suspect arrested after stolen SUV slams into Lincoln city bus
LINCOLN, NE – Police said a man was arrested after crashing a stolen SUV into a city bus in Lincoln last week, WOWT reports.
Officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle in the vicinity of S 10th Street and N Streets at about 12:40 p.m. Wednesday.
Investigators said 24-year-old Jacob W. Jones took a city-owned Chevy Equinox that had been parked in a turn lane and drove off. A short time later, the car crashed into the back of a StarTran bus near P Street and Capitol Beach Boulevard. No injuries were reported in the crash.
According to Lincoln police, Jones attempted to flee the scene but was held down by the bus operator and another citizen until officers arrived at the scene.
Jones was arrested on numerous charges, including DUI, theft by unlawful taking, and leaving the scene of an accident.
