Crash alert: Suspect in Lincoln hit-and-run incident taken into custody
LINCOLN, NE – A man who was wanted in connection with a hit-and-run incident in Lincoln has been taken into custody. According to KOLN, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office arrested 19-year-old Duop Wiyual Duop on Monday at about 2 p.m.
Authorities said Duop had rammed several patrol cars and a citizen’s car near N 48th Street and Vine Street last week when they initially tried to arrest him on several felony warrants. He then fled the scene.
On Monday, sheriff’s office deputies and the Nebraska State Patrol spotted Duop’s car parked in Northeast Lincoln and began chasing him. He was then arrested near a hotel in the area. Duop faces charges stemming from the hit-and-run as well as carrying a concealed weapon and the previous felony warrants.
