Crash alert: Suspects hit Nebraska State Patrol cruisers during chase
LINCOLN, NE – Two suspects were arrested after authorities say they struck two Nebraska State Patrol cruisers during a chase Friday morning, according to WOWT.
The NSP said the incident began at about 1:30 a.m. when a trooper tried make a traffic stop on a Dodge Durango in Lincoln but the driver refused to stop and took off.
A chase ensued on 14th Street and continued onto Arbor Road, with troopers using stop sticks to slow down the vehicle. As the pursuit reached 56th Street, authorities say the suspects swerved toward the troopers’ cruisers and hit two of them. Eventually a trooper was able to bring the Durango to a stop.
The driver was arrested, along with a passenger who tried to get away on foot. Nebraska TV reports the driver was identified as 26-year-old Thomas Mallory of Lincoln. He was arrested on multiple charges, including willful reckless driving and flight to avoid arrest. The passenger, 40-year-old Amanda Ironcloud of Lincoln, was charged with possession of a controlled substance.
