Crash alert: Tractor driver hurt in accident with freight truck on Highway 2
PALMYRA, NE – According to News Channel Nebraska, a man was injured when the tractor he was driving was hit by a freight truck in Otoe County last week.
Emergency crews responded to the scene of the accident Thursday on Highway 2 east of the Hooper Creek bridge between Palmyra and Unadilla.
Authorities said 45-year-old Efrin Robles of Midland, Texas was driving a truck and semi-trailer that went on top of a baler that was being pulled by the tractor, then on top of the tractor itself. The driver of the Farmall tractor, 65-year-old Galen Crawford, was transported from the scene by a medical helicopter. No information was released on his condition.
Robles’ truck ended up on its side in a ditch after the accident but he escaped with only minor injuries. Robles apparently did not see the tractor before the incident, according to an Otoe County Sheriff’s deputy.
The crash shut down the westbound lanes of Highway 2.
