Crash Alert: 1 dead, 1 injured following crash in Auburn
AUBURN, NE – One man was killed and another was injured yesterday following a two-vehicle accident that police believe was caused in part by icy road conditions.
KOLN reports that the crash took place on Highway 75, just north of Auburn, on Wednesday morning. Deputies with the Nemaha County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at approximately 7:40 a.m.
They believe the crash occurred when Kurt Kechely, a 60-year-old resident of Lincoln, crossed the center line into the southbound lane, where his Ford F-250 slammed into a semi truck driven by Shane Fisher. Both men were taken to Nemaha County Hospital, where Kechely died.
Fisher has since been moved a hospital in Omaha for further evaluation.
