Crash Alert: Dump truck driver killed in workplace accident
SARPY COUNTY, NE – KMTV reports that an independent contractor was killed yesterday morning when the dump truck he was driving rolled over him at an excavation facility southwest of Omaha.
According to the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred late Monday morning at Heimes Corporation, located next to the Chalco Hills Recreation Area. The driver had transported a load of concrete to be recycled, and stepped out of the vehicle as he unloaded the cargo. The truck then rolled over him, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is unclear at this time whether operator error or a mechanical failure led to the man’s death. We will update this blog should that information become available.
