Crash Alert: Motorcyclist dies in collision with turning van
OMAHA, NE – A motorcyclist was killed Saturday afternoon when he was hit by a van making a U-turn on 168th Street, WOWT reports.
Police say that 52-year-old Christopher Taylor was driving north on 168th Street at about 1 p.m. when he was struck by the turning van in the vicinity of Ames Avenue. An off-duty police officer attempted life-saving measures until emergency responders arrived, but Taylor could not be saved.
A second motorcyclist behind Taylor was able to ground his bike and escape injury.
Police cited the van’s driver for misdemeanor motor vehicle homicide. They do not believe speed or intoxication were contributing factors.
