Crash alert: Man facing charges in Lincoln crash that killed motorcyclist
LINCOLN, NE – A man is facing charges in an accident that caused the death of a motorcyclist in Lincoln last summer, the Lincoln Journal-Star reports.
Patrick Tvrdy made his first appearance in court last week in connection with the incident on July 30. Authorities said Tvrdy was driving a Dodge Charger in the area of Nebraska 2 and Pioneers Boulevard when he made a turn and collided with a motorcycle operated by 23-year-old Brady Sweetser. Sweetser was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers said they noticed that Tvrdy showed signs of impairment that night, and a drug recognition expert said he was too impaired to operate a vehicle. Tvrdy denied that he was driving under the influence at the time.
Tvrdy is now charged with motor vehicle homicide-DUI. He was released on $20,000 bond following his appearance before a Lancaster County Court Judge.
