Crash alert: 2 dead after SUV and taxi collide at Omaha intersection
OMAHA, NE – Two people were killed in a multi-vehicle crash at an intersection in Omaha Monday afternoon, reports WOWT.
Police and emergency crews responded to the scene at the intersection of North 24th Street and Lake Street at 1:09 p.m.
Investigators determined that the driver of a Dodge Journey who was going over the speed limit went through a red light and struck a Hyundai Z-Trip taxi that was turning on a green light onto Lake Street. The two vehicles went on to hit two other cars that were stopped at a red light.
A passenger in the taxi, 60-year-old Laron B. Imani, was pronounced dead at the scene. The taxi driver, 49-year-old Terrell L. Lindsay, died later at Nebraska Medicine.
The driver of the Dodge was seriously injured and is expected to face charges once he is released from the hospital.
No one else was seriously injured in the wreck.
