Crash alert: 2 dead in collision involving semi and SUV near Gretna
GRETNA, NE – A collision between a semi and another vehicle in Sarpy County left two people dead and another injured, reports the Lincoln Journal Star.
The accident happened Saturday on Interstate 80 near the Nebraska 370 exit near Gretna at 3:10 p.m. According to the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office, 30-year-old David Hardy Jr. of Omaha was driving an SUV east on I-80 when he crossed the median and crashed into a westbound semi.
Hardy and a passenger in the front seat, 30-year-old Sabrina Reynolds of Omaha, were pronounced dead at the scene. A back-seat passenger, 26-year-old Tanjeneia Bass of Omaha, was hospitalized in critical condition.
The driver of the semi was not injured. The Nebraska State Patrol shut down the westbound lanes of I-80 in the area for several hours during the crash investigation.
