Crash alert: Driver dies when pickup goes off road, hits tree in Douglas County
DOUGLAS COUNTY, NE – A driver was killed when his pickup truck went off the road and crashed in Douglas County last week.
According to WOWT, the single-vehicle accident occurred in the area of 252nd Street and Q Street in Waterloo Thursday at about 10:45 p.m. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as Shawn Ketchmark of Omaha. Investigators said Ketchmark was driving a GMC pickup that left the roadway and slammed into a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A witness told police the truck was going at a high rate of speed westbound prior to the crash and went into the eastbound lane after the driver was unable to make a turn.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into the wreck.
