Crash alert: Driver leaves scene after crash that injured Omaha police officer
OMAHA, NE – Police are investigating a crash that injured an Omaha police officer early Monday morning.
According to the Omaha World-Herald, the officer’s police cruiser was hit by a Jeep Cherokee at the intersection of 180th Street and West Center Road at about 2 a.m. The driver of the SUV then left the scene on foot and is still being sought, police said.
The officer was seriously injured and was hospitalized at Creighton University Medical Center with chest and back pain. A passenger in the Jeep was taken to the same hospital with facial cuts. Their injuries were not considered life-threatening.
