Crash alert: Nebraska state trooper injured in crash on Interstate 80
CHAPPELL, NE – A multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 last week left two people injured, including a Nebraska state trooper.
According to the North Platte Telegraph, the incident began when a tractor-trailer struck an overpass on I-80 at mile marker 90 near Chappell at about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
The trooper was dispatched to the scene along with a crew from the Nebraska Department of Transportation. As they were continuing their response efforts, a pickup truck pulling a trailer hit one of the NDOT vehicles, causing a chain-reaction crash that also hit the trooper’s patrol vehicle. The trooper, who was inside the vehicle at the time, was hospitalized with what were believed to be minor injuries. The driver of the truck involved in the initial collision also sustained minor injuries. No one else was reported injured.
The accident is under investigation by the Deuel County Sheriff’s Office.
