Crash alert: Police identify victim of fatal wreck on Highway 50 in Papillion
PAPILLION, NE – Authorities released the identity of a man killed in a crash in Papillion last week, reports the Omaha World-Herald.
This is an update to a previous story.
Papillion police said 63-year-old Bruce Hawkins of Weeping Water died in the multi-vehicle wreck. It happened in the vicinity of Nebraska Highway 50 and Capehart Road at about 2:49 p.m. last Thursday.
Investigators said a pickup truck driven by 57-year-old Louis Geditz crossed the center lane on Highway 50 and hit two vehicles. One of them was driven by Hawkins, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the other vehicle that was struck, 32-year-old Gilbert Anson, was hospitalized in critical condition. Geditz sustained injuries that were not regarded as life-threatening.
Witnesses reported seeing Geditz driving erratically prior to the collision.
