Crash alert: 3 injured in multi-vehicle crash at I-80/I-680 interchange in Omaha
OMAHA, NE – Three people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash involving a suspected drunk driver in Omaha on Monday, reports the Omaha World-Herald.
Police and rescue crews responded to the accident scene at the Interstate 80 and 680 interchange after the incident was reported at about 4:15 p.m. Investigators said the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado went off the road while trying to go around the curve from I-80 west to I-680 north. That driver, who police said was intoxicated, crossed the median and went into the southbound lanes, where the vehicle crashed into a Chevy Suburban. The Suburban was then hit by a southbound Dodge minivan.
The driver of the Silverado, the driver of the Suburban, and a passenger in the Suburban were all transported to Creighton University Medical Center-Bergan Mercy. Their injuries were not considered life-threatening. Police said charges were pending against the driver of the Silverado.
Authorities shut down the southbound I-680 off-ramp to eastbound I-80 for over three hours while police investigated and crews cleared the scene.
