Crash alert: Pickup trucks involved in deadly collision on Highway 30
KEARNEY, NE – Two pickup trucks were involved in a deadly collision in Buffalo County on Saturday afternoon, according to the Omaha World-Herald.
The accident happened during icy conditions on U.S. Highway 30 west of Kearney at about 3 p.m. The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office said 70-year-old Dallas Gerdes was driving a Ford pickup east when he lost control of his vehicle, crossed the center line and slammed into a westbound Chevrolet pickup. The driver of the Chevrolet, 53-year-old Rodney Svoboda of Upland, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gerdes, of Oconto, was transported to an area hospital. No details were released on the extent of his injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
