Crash alert: Victim identified after crash on Sherman County highway
LOUP CITY, NE – Authorities have released the identity of an elderly man killed in a head-on crash in Sherman County last Friday morning, according to KSNB.
This is an update to a previous story.
The Sherman County Sheriff’s Office said the victim was 79-year-old Jimmy Kusek of Loup City. Kusek was a passenger in a minivan that was traveling east on Highway 92 when it crashed into a westbound semi at about 10 a.m. Two other people were injured in the collision. They were the minivan’s driver, 55-year-old Edith Kusek of Loup City, and another passenger, 76-year-old Cecelia Kusek. Both were transported to CHI-Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. The driver of the semi was not hurt.
Authorities said Highway 92 was packed with snow at the time the incident occurred. The crash remains under investigation by the Nebraska State Patrol.
