Crash alert: 1 woman dead, 1 injured after being hit by pickup in Kearney
KEARNEY, NE – One pedestrian died and another was injured after they were hit by a pickup truck in Kearney, police said.
According to KHGI, the two women were struck by a GMC Sierra K2500 pickup at about 10:41 Saturday morning while they were walking east on the 900 block of East 44th Street.
The woman killed in the accident was identified as 59-year-old Veronica Powell of Kearney. The other pedestrian, 19-year-old Eleanor K. Powell of Kearney, sustained injuries that were not regarded as life-threatening. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 43-year-old John W. Paul of Kearney.
The Kearney Police Department and the Kearney / Buffalo County Fatality Accident Investigation Team are investigating the accident, and said they will refer the case to the Buffalo County Attorney’s Office when their findings are complete.
