Crash alert: Authorities identify victim of head-on collision on Highway 2
BUFFALO COUNTY, NE – Law enforcement authorities have identified the man killed in a head-on crash in Buffalo County last week, according to the Scottsbluff Star Herald.
This is an update to a previous story.
The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office said 52-year-old Curtis Deines of Chadron died in the accident on Highway 2 east of Ravenna Friday morning. Deines was a passenger in a Ford SUV that collided head-on with a Chevrolet pickup truck at about 4:45 a.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
There were three other passengers in the SUV driven by 35-year-old Jessica Ehlers of Grand Island. The driver of the pickup was 25-year-old Sergio Tinajero of Grand Island. The sheriff’s office said all the survivors of the crash were taken to CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney.
Authorities shut down a stretch of Highway 2 near the scene for about five hours for the crash investigation.
