Crash alert: Driver dies after crashing into Omaha Fire Department station
OMAHA, NE – A driver died after his car was involved in a crash in Omaha early Saturday morning, police said.
According to KPTM, 31-year-old Terry Stafford of Omaha was driving a Nissan Altima at a high rate of speed in the area of 26th Street and L Street when the accident occurred at 5:18 a.m. Police said Stafford was trying to swerve around a Volkswagen Jetta when he struck a median and sideswiped the Volkswagen. Stafford’s vehicle then slammed into the side of Omaha Fire Department Station 31.
Stafford was pronounced dead later at Nebraska Medicine. A 36-year-old woman from Hornick, Iowa who was a passenger in the Volkswagen was hospitalized, but her injuries were not considered life-threatening. No one else was seriously hurt.
The wreck is under investigation by Omaha police.
