Crash alert: Elderly couple injured in multi-vehicle collision in west Omaha
OMAHA, NE – Police say a multi-vehicle accident in west Omaha Tuesday left an Iowa couple injured. The incident happened in the area of 171st Street and West Center Road at about 4 p.m., according to WOWT.
78-year-old Barbara Arndt was driving a Chevy Tahoe SUV that rear-ended another vehicle that was stopped at a light at 171st Street, police said. The vehicle that was struck then hit another vehicle stopped at the same light.
A passenger in the Tahoe, 79-year-old Kenneth Arndt, was partially ejected and was seriously injured. Barbara Arndt sustained minor injuries. They were both taken to Bergan Mercy Hospital for treatment.
The Arndts had been declared as “endangered missing” Monday by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office in Iowa, and police later determined that they were the two people injured in the Omaha crash. Everyone else involved in the wreck refused medical attention at the scene, police said.
