Crash alert: 1 teenager killed, 1 injured when SUV crashes near Taylor
TAYLOR, NE – One teenager was killed and another was injured when their SUV crashed in Loup County early Wednesday morning, KSNB reports.
The Nebraska State Patrol said 18-year-old Colton Dawe of Burwell was driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer west on Highway 91 near Taylor when the accident occurred. According to the NSP, Dawe failed to stop at the intersection with Highway 183 and kept going into a vacant property, where the vehicle crashed into a tree.
Dawe died at the scene, while a 15-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries. Neither was wearing a seat belt, troopers said.
State troopers suspect alcohol use was a contributing factor in the wreck as they continue their investigation.
