Crash alert: 2 drivers dead after van and pickup collide in Douglas County
WATERLOO, NE – A collision involving two vehicles in Douglas County over the weekend left both drivers dead, according to KETV.
Authorities responded to the scene Saturday afternoon in the area of Highway 92 and Campanile Road in Waterloo. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said the driver of a van headed east was trying to pass another vehicle when it crashed into a westbound pickup truck at about 4 p.m. One of the vehicles caught fire.
The two drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the van was identified as 58-year-old Charles Miller, while the other driver has not yet been identified. Two passengers in the pickup truck, ages 20 and 18, were taken to an Omaha hospital. No information was released on their conditions.
The wreck remains under investigation.
