Crash alert: 2 women dead after cars collide head-on in Cedar County
HARTINGTON, NE – Authorities are investigating a collision in Cedar County Saturday night that left both drivers dead, according to the Associated Press and KHGI.
The victims were identified as 30-year-old Samantha Plantenberg of Crofton and 64-year-old Elizabeth Braunesreither of Mission Hill, South Dakota. The Cedar County Sheriff’s Office said the cars they were driving crashed head-on on U.S. Highway 81 at about 9:40 p.m. A third vehicle hit one of their cars and that driver, a 24-year-old man from O’Neill, suffered minor injuries.
The Nebraska State Patrol and the Cedar County Sheriff’s Office are trying to determine the cause of the accident.
