Crash alert: 1 driver dead, 1 injured after vehicles collide on Highway 30
MERRICK COUNTY, NE – One driver was killed and another injured when their vehicles collided on a highway in Merrick County on Monday, according to a report by KOLN.
The Merrick County Sheriff’s Office said the driver of a Dodge Ram pickup truck was going east on Highway 30 when he crossed the center line at about 12:30 p.m. The Dodge Ram slammed into a Jeep Laredo between 25th Road and 26th Road.
The driver of the Ram was pronounced dead at the scene, and was identified as 53-year-old Shane Samuelson of Chapman. The driver of the Laredo sustained injuries that were not life-threatening, and was taken to the Merrick Medical Center.
Police said neither driver was wearing their seat belts when the crash occurred.
