Crash alert: 2 dead after pickup truck crashes into Lincoln County canal
LINCOLN COUNTY, NE – Two people died after their pickup truck crashed into a canal in Lincoln County last week, according to KOLN and the Associated Press.
Investigators with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said the driver lost control of the vehicle on a canal access road on Thursday, and the pickup ended up in the Tri-County Canal where it turned over onto its side.
Local utility workers went into the canal and pulled out one man, identified as 74-year-old Alex Sanchez of North Platte. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The body of the other victim, 52-year-old Kimberly McCarter of Papillion, was recovered later by divers. Both had drowned, authorities said.
